Your point about the logical argument hits a bit too close to home. It took many years running my business to realize that many buyers are *not* rational. So, do you limit yourself to buyers who want what you sell, or do you change your stripes to broaden your market?

Glenn,

There is danger on the other end of the form/functionality spectrum if you're thinking about focusing more on form, aesthetics, exciting interfaces and such.

The (false) dichotomy can be represented by Apple vs. PC. My family has always been partial to Apples, and I have always been a fan of the latter. There is no doubt that Apple is the clear winner as concerns industrial design. And in functionality, unless you're in particular creative fields, I've always felt PCs take the cake. Yeah, maybe you can accomplish it on a Mac, but you'll have to dig pretty deep down past the dumbed-down interface to get there. I think this is less and less the case, but historically, it has been so.

My point, rather, my word of caution, is this: I'm all about "delightful" and "heart-pumping", really, I am. But you can be "painterly" without stripping down the product and its capabilities. Look to Da Vinci for inspiration - a master of both the aesthetic and technical.

I loved this brown bag. Both Jonathan and Peter were so smart and genuine and sincere, and their product is fantastic. How great it was to have them here, know that they are in the same building and we have a good rapport with them. I'm excited to see how some of these seeds might sprout here. And, I've always heard gamers do it online. ;-)
