Helloooo, Houston! Today Redfin launches its business in Houston, Texas, the third major market we’ve opened this year. Houstonians, you should know that Redfin likes a good party, and we’re hosting one on Wednesday, March 20 at Hearsay Gastro Lounge to get to know our new friends and neighbors. Come one, come all!

There are tons of reasons to be excited about Redfin in Houston. It’s the largest city in Texas, which means that about 2.2 million more people now have access to the best real estate website with ALL the homes for sale, and agents who are paid to make clients happy. What’s more, Redfin has a track record in the Lone Star state. We launched in Dallas in 2010, and in Austin just last year. Houston’s vibrant business community makes Redfin feel right at home, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to be rounding off our Texas presence there.

The most exciting part of expanding to a new city is meeting and hiring the very best local real estate agents who share our values and can help us make a difference in the local market by putting the customer first in every transaction.

Tara Waggoner_Redfin Houston Area ManagerTara Waggoner, Redfin’s new area manager will be leading the charge, working with homebuyers and sellers across greater Houston including Downtown, The Galleria, The Woodlands, Humble, Cypress, Katy, Sugarland, Pearland, and League City. Tara has been in the business for more than 15 years and brings a long-standing commitment to customer service. She’s most looking forward to using Redfin’s technology to help educate her clients on the local market while delivering better service and value to them. As demand grows, Tara will be hiring a team of local agents to help even more homebuyers and sellers in the region.

Just like in our other markets, Redfin’s Houston agents will be paid salaries and bonuses based on customer satisfaction, not commissions. We make those customer satisfaction ratings public by surveying every customer and posting every review, the good, the bad, and the ugly, on our site. The efficiency of our technology and unique business model allow us to pass savings onto our customers. In Houston, someone moving from one $300,000 home to another would save about $7,000 in fees.

Today’s launch means an additional 22,000 new active listings for Houston homebuyers to search using Redfin’s top-rated website and mobile apps. Houston homebuyers will soon have access to Tour Insights, comments written by Redfin agents about homes they have seen in person and Offer Insights, details from Redfin agents about what it takes to win a bidding war in a given neighborhood. Homeowners in Houston can check out Redfin’s Home Price Tool, which uses data about nearby similar homes to help you hone in on your home’s value, a helpful starting point for a conversation with an agent about selling your home.

You can meet the whole Redfin team at our launch celebration on the 20th! Hope to see you there!
