Today Redfin announces the launch of our 23rd market, the Twin Cities. Starting today, Minnesotans can work with a Redfin agent to buy and sell homes in parts of Hennepin, Ramsey, Anoka, Washington, Dakota, Scott, Carver and Wright counties in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area. People can also search for all homes for sale statewide in Minnesota on Redfin.com.
This is a big deal for Twin Cities residents because it means they can see every single home for sale in the state of Minnesota in one place and work with agents in the Twin Cities who are paid based on client satisfaction, not commission. Whether buying or selling a home in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, Redfin clients can save thousands of dollars because Redfin’s technology allows us to make the real estate process more efficient and pass savings on to our clients. In the Twin Cities, someone buying a $500,000 home would receive a refund of more than $4,000 and someone selling a $500,000 home would save upward of $9,000 in fees.
Redfin agent Chris Prescott is leading the charge as the Minnesota market manager. Chris is already helping clients buy and sell homes, and he’s building a team of local Redfin agents to expand the market. Chris was born and raised in Minnesota and has more than 20 years of real estate experience in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, including teaching continuing education real estate classes. Most recently, Chris and his wife started and ran a marketing company for small businesses that supported more than 200 local real estate agents. Get to know Chris by heading to his Pinterest board of local hot spots and interesting homes in the Twin Cities.
With Redfin’s arrival also comes the addition of more than 1 million Minnesota properties to our site and mobile apps, increasing the total number of searchable homes on Redfin.com by 3.1 percent.
But the home search is just the beginning of Redfin’s service. In addition to requesting in-person home tours with a Redfin agent from our website and mobile apps and receiving Instant Updates as homes hit the market, people can now use one-of-a-kind Redfin tools previously unavailable to consumers in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. Redfin’s Home Value Tool leads consumers through the process of determining a home’s value, using the same data and processes agents use. Over time, Twin Cities homebuyers will have access to two other unique Redfin features: Tour Insights, comments written by Redfin agents about homes we have seen in person and Offer Insights, details from Redfin agents about what it takes to win a bidding war in a given neighborhood.
We’ve had our eye on the Twin Cities for a long time because of its strong economy and expansive real estate market. In 2009, we launched in Chicago, which has since become one of Redfin’s strongest markets, so we’ve been eager to expand our Midwest presence. As a real estate brokerage, we build our business one market at a time, one agent at a time, hiring only those who are committed to putting the customer first. As we’ve expanded our national presence, more and more agents are excited to work with us, and especially for us. Speaking of hiring, we’re actively expanding our local team.
