This means that Las Vegans can now work with Redfin agents, who, unlike traditional real estate agents, are paid a salary and receive benefits. Customer satisfaction ratings — not transactions — determine each agent’s bonuses. Working with a Redfin agent isn’t a gamble because they are truly on your side. Couple that with the value Redfin offers, and you may be tempted to play another round of blackjack (or two). To date, Redfin has saved its customers more than $175 million in real estate fees. A homebuyer in Las Vegas buying a $300,000 home will save more than $1,600 in commission fees. A seller listing a similarly priced home with Redfin will save about $4,500. That’s almost like getting dealt a full house!
Las Vegans have already been able to search for homes on Redfin.com and now they can take full advantage of technology-powered tools that have never before been available to buyers and sellers there, including the Home Value Tool, Offer Insights, Tour Insights, Deal Room and Open House Schedule.
So why is Redfin expanding to the city of earthly delights? Las Vegas, known lovingly as a playground for adults and revered for its incredibly diverse array of entertainment and gaming options, is also a hospitality mecca. Inspired by the concierge mentality that defines Las Vegas, Redfin also aims to inspire and delight customers, making the home-buying and selling process easy and fun. We also think we’ll feel right at home in the city’s burgeoning tech scene, with similarly service-obsessed disruptors like Zappos, and a host of creative startups who have set up shop in the heart of the Mojave.
Like any high roller, the Las Vegas real estate market has seen some extreme highs and lows. During the economic recession, Vegas got hit harder and faster than any other city in the nation. Since it hit bottom, Las Vegas has also had some of the highest yearly price gains. Prices were up 20.8 percent from last March, proving that the pendulum swings high in both directions. As a result, many consider the Las Vegas market to be a barometer for real estate trends. In short, we think Vegas is a hot spot and we aren’t just talking about the weather.
Leading the Redfin pack in Las Vegas is Market Manager Ed Smith. A well-rounded real estate professional with 20 years of experience in all facets of the industry, Smith began his career as a mortgage broker and went on to work his way up through the new construction industry, later serving as Sales Manager for Del Webb Corporation, a Las Vegas homebuilder. Smith has worked in the Las Vegas real estate market for more than 10 years, and most recently transitioned to a managerial role for a traditional brokerage before joining Redfin.
“Redfin’s customer-focused model is a natural fit for me because I have always taken pride in treating my clients like family,” Smith said. “I’m excited to introduce to Las Vegas a team of agents who are similarly invested in treating every client’s home purchase or sale as if it were their own.”
