Virginia is for lovers and, today, Redfin expands its love for the state by launching its customer-obsessed, technology-powered home-buying and selling services in Virginia Beach and the rest of the Hampton Roads area. People can now use the Redfin online and mobile tools to search for every home on the market and work with local Redfin agents to buy and sell homes in Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News, Norfolk, Virginia Beach and York counties.
Veteran Redfin agent Alyssa Cokinos has relocated from Washington, D.C., back to Virginia Beach, where she was stationed during her time in the Navy, to serve clients and build a team of local agents. Instead of making commissions, Redfin agents are company employees who receive a salary and benefits and are paid bonuses based on customer satisfaction. As a hybrid real estate brokerage and technology company, Redfin arms its agents and clients with an array of information and tools that make the home-buying and selling processes more efficient and seamless.
This means Redfin agents can pass savings on to their clients for every home bought and sold. For a $300,000 home, a Redfin homebuyer in Virginia Beach would save more than $1,700. For listing clients, Redfin agents charge 1.5 percent rather than the typical 3 percent of a traditional agent, while providing the full listing service, from pricing and staging advice and professional photography through the negotiation and closing processes. Someone selling a $300,000 home would save $4,500.
Redfin agent Alyssa Cokinos joined the company in 2012 in Washington, D.C., where she helped more than 50 people buy and sell homes. Prior to becoming a real estate agent, Alyssa served as an electronics technician in the U.S. Navy. During her time in the Navy, she lived and trained on the Dam Neck base in Virginia Beach. Alyssa was drawn back to the area not just by the beaches but also by the opportunity to bring the Redfin blend of technology and transparency to the Hampton Roads real estate community.
“Real estate runs in my family, and I have always loved technology, so Redfin truly blends two of my favorite things into one custom-made career for me,” Alyssa said. “I think Redfin is an especially perfect fit for Hampton Roads residents, many of whom are military personnel and often need to relocate from out of town or out of the country on a very tight timeline. Redfin agents use proprietary technology as well as tools like Skype for home tours to make home buying easy for people in all kinds of otherwise tricky situations.”
Alyssa and her team are already on the ground taking buyers on home tours and guiding them through the offer, negotiation and closing processes, and helping sellers list their homes.
