Hey…Nice Built-Ins!

Yesterday’s most-clicked property on Redfin Seattle was a 3 bedroom/2.75 bath home in Seattle’s Montlake neighborhood.

I realized as I was getting ready to write this that I had been through Montlake a thousand times but had never really taken the time to learn about the neighborhood. A quick review of Wikipedia turned up some fascinating facts including an amazing story that there was almost a second north/south highway built in the late sixties that would have bypassed downtown and connected 520 to I-90. The highway would have cut right through parts of Capitol Hill and Montlake. It’s almost beyond comprehension to think about how much it would cost to try a project like at today’s home prices…

This home was built in 1924 and is exactly where you want to be if you are interested in Montlake. It’s close to 520, the Arboretum, the Burke Gilman, and the new library. For the listing price of $725,000 you get a nice deck with a built-in spa, and a really nice looking living room with leaded glass built-in cabinets around the fireplace.

This home is priced about average for the immediate neighborhood but is a whopping $400K below the average for Montlake as a whole.
