Now that the fun’s over…

So after all the fervor and excitement of last Sunday’s Superbowl and last Tuesday’s primary elections, our days are looking a little…well… dull. What’s left to look forward to? I’ve got it! Let’s bundle up and get out to a few… OPEN HOUSES!!!

There’s a lot more open house action in Brookline this weekend, so if you don’t mind braving a few snow flurries (Sunday’s high temperature should settle in around 37 degrees) let’s start there. First, newly-listed 91-93 Walnut Street  caught my eye. It’s a top floor, two- bedroom unit of 1,052 square feet for $439K. In Brookline, that’s not a bad deal for a T-friendly abode with new systems and deeded roof rights. But then there’s that little thing called parking. Open house is Sunday, 12-3 P.M.

Or maybe you need less space but more parking. Check out 179 Kent Street, Apt.1. At 623 square feet it’s a pretty tight squeeze (a two-bed no less!), but at $319K, we could certainly sell off a few possessions and give it a try. Open House is Sunday from 11-12.

Cross over the Brookline/Brighton line and you can find a one bed at 123 Kilsyth, Apt 6  for $274,9K. It’s 570 square feet, which puts it in a weird position. The price is high by Brighton standards (and it IS still Brighton after all), but low compared to condos in Brookline. Open house is Sunday, 1:30-3:30, where you can decide for yourself whether it’s worth the money.

In Brighton, 15 Priscilla Road might be worth a look for anyone in the market for a two-family. At $699,9K, this property boasts more than 3200 square feet of space. It also appears not to suffer from the characteristic neglect of so many Brighton two-families. Open house is Sunday, 1:30-3.

Those with no desire to become landlords might stop by 6 Sutherland Road, no. 25, a two-bedroom condo of 920 square feet, asking price $279K. The condo is cute and well-cared for, the condo fee is reasonable, and if you can put up with a little Saturday night student activity at the restaurants across the street, the location is excellent — right on the C and D lines. Open house from 11:30 -1, Sunday.

Or then again, you and I both may decide to stay in and snuggle into our couches with our laptops. When it comes to open houses in February, the best is surely yet to come.
