Cruise Redfin for the Rest of the Afternoon; Like You’re Going To Get Anything Else Done….

I had to take a minute away from my Happylite to drop you guys a blog this very…seasonal…Friday. Because I know the average inhabitant of cube or carrel is busily pretending to work, downloading the new Cowboy Junkies album, reading the free ads on Craigslist, and contracting house-hunting fever. You’re clearly too sick to work. (How in the world did people screw off at their jobs before there was an internet? Thank you, Mr. Gore!).

I have my Jiffy-pots seeded, kids; my Siberian tomatoes, German winter Thyme, andheirlooms Cruise Redfin for the Rest of the Afternoon; Like Youre Going To Get Anything Else Done.... nasturtiums have all germinated, and the raised bed will be ready to plant as soon as I return with a pickup load of composted soil from Beverly’s agricultural composting dump (most towns in this part of Mass offer free clean fill in the form of composted leaves and whatnot). It’s easy to hate this time of year, but watching things grow really helps me through the rain and the fluctuating temperatures, the irritating pounding behind the eyeballs that signals that I’m ready fro $#@! summer already, dammit!

Nothing new in the past 2 days for Beverly, but Salem is another story. The sellers are up with the crocus; how about the buyers?

I can’t see any pictures of 15 Indian Hill lane #15 yet, but it sounds like a nicer-than-average condo with a fireplace, 2 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, and it’s only $113 per square foot. Over 2200 square feet for under $255k? That’s a lot of space….

70 School Street #A would be better if “A” were a number; pshah, “School” street. Sounds gorgeous. Brick patio = container gardening. Do a little research — Home Despot tomatoes won’t do as well in pots as will many heirloom varieties. Sugar snap peas do very well in hanging pots, and the tendrils are delicious sauteed in a little sesame oil.

79 Flint Street #1 is in a great location, near the train and close enough to walk to the wharf, but check to see what traffic is like/how well soundproofed the place is.

8 Hubon Street is a 2200 sq. ft. 4-bedroom at $160/sq.ft.; lousy description and no pictures yet, but that probably means an agent just opened the listing and is in the process of getting more data up on the MLS for us. Check back with these listings and you should see them update by the end of the day, or by early next week.

Quick! Look busy! Here comes mean old Mr. Throttlemeyer from human resources!

  • The MLS pics are up for all of these -- Flint and School St. are lookers from the curb -- I love these old beauties.

  • If you feel like you're goofing off, Ellie, then it counts.

  • If I work at Redfin, does surfing Redfin all afternoon count as goofing off?

And thanks for schooling School street on its punctuation, it needed it.

  • Shorty, one of my fellow Redfin bloggers beat me to the Haiku posting; your link shows how much time mortgage brokers have on their hands right now, anyway. The ones that make fun of people for blowing all of the "free" money that was thrown at them...those rankle a bit, but you know where I stand on the issues of blame & regulation.

  • X-ine, I got my heirloom seeds where I get almost everything else...from ebay. Laugh if you want, but almost everything except my lemon grass has germinated in record...um...thyme. And lemon grass is tropical. I've even purchased root cutting and other hard to find items there. I should do a post about that next week.

http://activerain.com/blogsvie... Hey Mike, maybe you need to haiku like this guy.

  • x-ine

Where are you getting your heirlooms from? Did you mail order them, or do you have some secret little place you buy them from?

As a container gardener, I can confirm that the better the seedling you start with, the better the tomato yield. Simple plum tomatoes are best for getting harvests that will make sauce in large batches.
