What’s New Real Estate? Whoah-whoah-whoa-o…
Sorry — Tom Jones has been on a permanent loop in my head for most of the day. And, really, that’s as much of “What’s New Pussycat” as I know — I don’t think I’ve ever heard more than 2 lines of the damned song. (And if I sign these, Mrs. Nusbaum, will you put them back on?)
The thing is, I’M the one who always puts annoying songs in other people’s heads. Think “Phenomenon,” the scat jazz number made famous on The Muppet Show. The theme to Final Jeopardy. Almost any song from Annie or The Sound of Music. I am a master. I can even get my folky-crunchy girlfriend humming hair metal ballads.
This has nothing to do with Real Estate, but “What’s New Real Estate?” seemed like a good title for a new listings post. Anyway, I cracked myself up. Nevermind….uh….let’s look at some houses….
82 1/2 Essex Street is a duplex condo in the Montserrat neighborhood. Over 1300 square feet for $282,500; we’ll see pictures shortly, but it sounds really nice. Montserrat is 1 stop past Beverly on the train — not as MBTA convenient as the southern part of town, but largely undiscovered.
13 Andrew Street #1 in Salem is a Garden — not Garden Level — condo for $210k. At just over 700 square feet, it’s in a really nice location — the add says “tree lined street” near “Historic Salem.”
5 Sutton Avenue in Salem is just the opposite — “in need of updating” and “campy” means expenditure down the line, sure. But you get twice the square footage for $299k, and the price per square foot is really good. How bad can it be? A mural of Cher on the bathroom wall? The cast of The Brady Bunch entombed behind the wall of the rec room?
