Open Houses in Salem this Weekend…and Summer Storms!
I checked NOAA’s forecast for the weekend, and especially Sunday. It will probably be nice on Saturday, when most of the open houses aren’t, but Sunday there’s a good chance of thunderstorms — and when there’s a good chance, the weather generally doesn’t disappoint.
While that will likely make for bored, unhappy real estate agents sitting at poorly-attended open houses, if you’re even having passing thoughts about living up here, you ought to see a storm. A thunder storm on the ocean or bay is a tempest. I’ll be glued to my window, watching the swell and foam. And then, afterwards, there’s that smell….
This one has just seen a price reduction, and the first year of condo fees are on the seller. There’s an open house scheduled every Sunday from now until September…I’d say that’s either a motivated seller, a motivated agent, or both.

The photo above links to the Peabody Essex Museum (and comes from a Yacht photography exhibit they put up last year). The PEM is a real treasure and well worth making part of your trip up here. Just click the sailboat.
