Plan Your Open Houses This Weekend!
When we were looking for a house about a year and a half ago, our agent encouraged us to go to as many open houses as we could, not so much to shop — most of them were too big and too much for us — but to get an idea of what’s out there and what it costs. I think that urging was partly to keep us dreaming and yearning until something right came along. Doubtless, part of it was a sly attempt to get our names in those guest books seller’s agents always keep — sellers were new to the idea of 286 days on the market and falling prices, and their agents were always afraid of getting fired if they didn’t look diligent enough.
I used the opportunity to see the way real people, and many of them DIY types, put together their homes. I learned to tell laminate from hardwood, and enjoyed myself a great deal. They needed to serve donuts, though. I feel really strongly about
that….
Click the Zipcar and rent a ride; if the weather clears, even better.
How about a sunny 2-bedroom condo in a beautiful 1920s building with a space in the garage deeded in…for $178k?

Or, how about a big, gorgeous antique Victorian that’s been generously loved on? This place is a peach:

The fact that 6 Cliff Street is still on the market disturbs and saddens me. If I hadn’t bought this place, I’d buy that one….I LOVE Goat Hill…. It’s like 2 blocks from the best commuter rail service in greater Boston, and has it’s own upscale tavern.
