Like, OMG! Trendy Living!

The Optima Lofts in downtown Evanston are hard to miss, being the tallest residential building in the North Shore. While it’s impressive even from below, the top floors boast views of the Chicago skyline and Lake Michigan from sleek, South and East-facing balconies.
optimal!

Of course, there’s an upside and a downside to having a giant residential tower in a North Shore suburb. The population density increases exponentially, the surrounding neighborhood becomes a boomtown, and a lot of angry townies yelling at their aldermen because the landscape is changing too much and too fast. This building in particular won several awards for its design. But, does it match? What kind of trend is Optima setting in Evanston?

Here’s some new construction for you to gawk, dream, and ponder over:

  • Thanks for the compliments, Jessica! I write for a few different things, on many different levels of the boring/cool spectrum. Shoot me an email and I'll let you know.

  • Jessica

Sarah, you're a class act. You respond so politely and accurately to this guy, every time! I can't say I'd have the same amount of patience & grace. It is a pleasure reading your blog. Do you only do articles about the north shore?

  • Thanks, Joe! But that title is not in quotes, and they are loft-style buildings! If you'd like to take a look at the gallery of Optima's Scottsdale model, you can check out this virtual tour:

  • The project is known as Optima Views, Sarah, not Optima Lofts. The sites you link have it right.
