Back in the wild old days when we were doing in-person reviews of houses, there was a period when it seemed that everyone who lived on Mead Street in the Rainier Valley was getting out of town. I think I looked at 5 houses within a 5 block stretch over a period of 3 months. The sale results are starting to appear, so it’ll be interesting to see how the properties stack up.
The first of the bunch is 4263 S. Mead, a 1908 5-bedroom Victorian style number. I balked at the location; it was one unattractive block away from busy, smelly Rainier Avenue. Apparently, that fact wasn’t enough give interested buyers huge leverage or bargaining power, because the sale price dropped only $4,000 from the original asking price of $419,000.
