Holidays Get People in the Mood… to Sell Cheap

leave-it-to-beaver.jpgScrolling through some recent Redfin data while watching the latest edition of House Hunters International, I was surprised at the number of homes on the market in the Eastside priced under $300,000. When I was looking to buy a house more than a year ago, I would have jumped at the opportunity to buy a house with land—not a condo—for $250,000 in Newport Hills.  

So in celebration (I guess?) of lower home prices then when I was house hunting last February, the listings below are all new to the market this week and priced below $300,000.  And they are all in Renton. That’s just how it worked out.

The white picket fence is a little beaver cleaver, but the bright home (look at the pictures and you will understand) received a new exterior paint job over the Fourth of July weekend and a brand new patio.

The large 7,000+ sqft lot screams duplex development. The home has been recently updated, but the 1936 architecture creates interesting layouts throughout the home that could make for challenging decorating.

This home has charm. Awe, it’s cute! Check out the backyard, too.

This home needs updating, but the price reflects its condition. The duplex has an outdoor pool, but the listing doesn’t provide pictures. Something makes me think the outdoor aquatics won’t be a key selling point. Let’s focus on the kitchen. Another condo in the duplex offers three bedrooms and modern updates and is listed for $155,990. Hmm.
