[Applause] Right you are, even though it caught me by surprise. As I clicked on link after link last weekend, I kept seeing this city pop up. So what is the appeal?
According to the MLS there are 427 properties for sale in Fremont at this moment. Looking at a few different sources, I see that the average list price is about $750,000. So there is a lot of inventory and the prices are mid-range for the Bay Area.
The city itself, originally a true suburban development back in the late ’60s and ’70s, is now the fourth most populous city in the Bay Area with 210,000 residents, right behind San Jose, San Francisco, and Oakland. The population is primarily under the age of 45 (60%), 45 % have a college degree, and 77% of the population makes more than $50,000 (www.ci.fremont.ca.us). The schools are ranked in the Top 100 in the U.S. and there is an abundance of parks and recreational activities, not to mention all roads leading to major industrial centers, such as San Jose, Silicon Valley, the Peninsula, and Oakland.
So maybe there is a good reason for Fremont properties to be so popular, after all.
