Good news for those looking for a home in Berkeley in the $600,000-$800,000 range.
This week there is a glut of newly listed single family homes in this relatively modest price bracket.
The houses are scattered across the city — in north and west Berkeley and a couple close to downtown — but all are effectively in the “flats” as opposed to the hills which will partly explain their reasonable price-tags. Traditionally, the higher you climb (and the better the views) the more you will be paying per square foot for a home here.
Closer inspection is called for this weekend on homes on Arch Street, Monterey Avenue, Berryman Street, Ellis Street, Channing Way, Sacramento Street, Browning Street, California Street and Cedar Street.
Particularly intriguing is this 3 bed/2-bath brown shingle on Shattuck Avenue (above) opposite Live Oak Park. It’s on at $745,000 ($472 sq ft) and, although on a main road, seems to offer a very leafy outlook and some interesting interior architecture.
