I am enamored by loft living. I have never been an urban dweller, and quite frankly I am tired of suburban living–with neighbor’s pool parties, constant construction crews, and the lack of privacy–so I am leaning toward country living, but every time I see a loft, I sit and stare at the big open interior spaces, big enough to hold ballroom dance classes and throw killer cocktail parties. I love lofts like this one at International Lofts located at 1501 37th Avenue in Oakland (Unit A7), with brick interior walls, high ceilings, and a spiral staircase with steel catwalk. There is a chef’s kitchen with maple cabinetry, operable skylights, parking space and a bonus private garden. What’s not to love? One of 36 units situated on 2 acres, which includes a common area park, it is listed at $535,000. The price seems right for a 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath loft ($334/sf), but I have to wonder why it is still on the market after 90 days. Is it the area? Is it loft living? What’s your guess?
