The latest installment in the saga of the attempted sale of 683 Santa Barbara Road provides another intriguing twist to the tale.
You may remember that on July 16 I reported on this historic house up in the hills which had originally gone on the market for a cool $5m. It was reduced a couple of times and then the owners evidently decided they had had enough with hanging around and took out an ad declaring a bidding auction for the house, which had been extensively renovated, with a starting price of just $2,249,500 and a closing date of July 22.
This plan seems not to have worked.
For now the house has slipped off MLS and we have more ads, including on Craigslist, stating that the home is on the market for $3,650,000.
Confusing signals or what?
