Berkeley & Oakland: Some Homes Still Going Over Asking

It’s not all slashing and burning in certain Berkeley and Oakland neighborhoods. Latest “homes sold” data shows that people will pay over the odds if they want a home badly enough.

Somebody other than me, for instance, liked the look of the mid-century modern home at 660 Woodmont (above). Designed by Roger Lee, this 4/2 home with wood ceilings and a “serene, private” setting close to Tilden sold for 0.2% above its asking of $849,000.

In Oakland, 5404 Lawton Avenue, a 4/2 Craftsman bungalow with original detailing and a “magazine quality” kitchen (above) sold for $1,256,000, 5% more than its asking price of $1,189,000.
