Like a Thief in the Night

Well, okay, maybe that’s a bit dramatic, but this time of year poses a great opportunity to sneak in while your competition is shopping and nab – well, not just a cool house, but a good job as well, trust me on this. I got four of my last five jobs in December. Nobody wants to job-hunt, and hardly anybody wants to house-hunt, either. Though there’s not that many open houses in Richmond this weekend, here’s a chance to check out what looks like two very sweet deals. (Photo: Jeff Sandquist on flickr.)

1200 Brickyard Way #106, Richmond: 2 bedrooms/2 bathrooms, 1,419 sq ft, $489,000. Open Sunday 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This condo has a view of the harbor and San Francisco, a wood-burning fireplace, granite countertops and a deck, and the condo has a pool and spa. Check out the view from this house – how could you live here and not be in a good mood gazing out at the ships bobbing in the harbor?

3153 Fairmede Drive, Richmond: 4 bedrooms/2 baths, 1,165 sq ft, $325,500. Open Sunday 1-4. One of my fellow bloggers wisely targeted properties close to malls in her open homes post, and as it happens, this one is close to the Hilltop Mall. Why in the world is it so cheap? Three words: Real Estate Owned, or to put it more bluntly, foreclosure. It’s sad, especially considering that this four-bedroom house was likely inhabited by a family, but the extremely low price may well benefit some other family.
