Jeff Lewis is Flipping Out in Los Feliz

flipping out picture Jeff Lewis is Flipping Out in Los Feliz

From the naughty and addictive blog Real Estalker, we learn that that Jeff Lewis, of the Bravo TV reality show “Flipping Out,” has listed his home in the Los Feliz section of Los Angeles. If you haven’t seen the show, Lewis is a real-life L.A. home-flipper who freely admits he has OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder) and drives his beleaguered staff crazy with his demands (such as ordering his assistant to arrange the bottled water in his refrigerator drawer with labels facing up).

The house, at 3427 Ben Lomond Place, Los Angeles, was featured on the show. Lewis purchased the home in June 2006, for $975,000. According to Real Estalker, it was a “T.D.” — total dump. Now, the 1,989-square-foot house is back on the market, listed at $1,525,000, which comes out to $767 per square foot.

Lewis is known for not skimping on the details, and we’re sure the property must show perfectly, thanks to his OCD. So perhaps it’s not surprising that a quick peek at nearby houses on the market reveals that his property is at the high end of price per square foot.

Here are the active listings we found near Lewis’ house, in the 90027 ZIP code. They don’t include square footage, but we found the records on propertyshark.com.

2162 Talmadge St., Los Angeles, $1,789,000, 3,848 s.f., $465/s.f.

4071 Los Nietos Drive, Los Angeles, $1,249,000, 2,367 s.f., $528/s.f.

4229 Tracy Street, Los Angeles, $1,095,000, 1,744 s.f., $628/s.f.

And the following nearby homes were sold within the last three months:

4008 Holly Knoll Drive, Los Angeles, $1,049,000, 1,833 s.f., $572/s.f.

3418 Waverly Drive, Los Angeles, $915,000, 1,889 s.f., $484/s.f.

4744 Los Feliz Blvd., Los Angeles, $1,900,000, 3,268 s.f., $578/s.f.

Will Lewis get top dollar for his house? Stay tuned.

He is so fem, and childish, he makes gay men look bad.
His design is very cheap looking and not very orginal.

I think Jeff Lewis is fantastic. He is very honest and if I had a million dollars he would be the only one I would hire to do my work. He is a perfectionist and that is what makes him perfect. Although he might be a little harsh sometimes I think he knows exactly what he is doing. He is the best designer ever. I also love his staff.

    Jeff Lewis touched my penis!

I absolutely LOVE Jeff Lewis' off-beat sense of humor, and find something about him so very refreshing. But I also admire and respect him and would be proud to call anyone a friend that embodies the characteristics I find in Jeff Lewis. The people he surrounds himself with all are so funny too... they play off each other very well. I love them all! You would have to appreciate quirkiness and smart humor (sarcasm & wit) though, to see the things I see in Jeff... and what I DON'T see is 'mean-spiritedness', even though on the surface, some might if they don't recognize his playful nature. To each his own, of course, but I hope this show continues on for awhile because I simply LOVE Jeff, Jenny, Zoila and even Elwood (that was sad to see him mess up like that).

I love Jeff, I see a very sensitive side in him that he has alot of affection for Zoila and Jenny. He is the kind of boss that is a pain in the a** but always comes around and does the right thing. I have many ocd people around me but they are not half as easy to get along with as Jeff seems. I think that to run and business that demanding you must be organized and look at how amazing those homes look when he is done! I always look at his employees and laugh, they are not goal oriented like Jeff and it causes them to bump heads. He always seems concerned to keep his contractors in work and instead of firing someone he just demotes them and lets them earn their position back. A real jerk of a boss would just fire you not give another chance. Even though I am sure some would find this degrading to be demoted but then again a job is a job. I have worked for some real a**holes, I would gladly work for Jeff, he is top notch at what he does and his work speaks for itself!!

    Hey All,
I think Jeff nows what he is doing. He is infact a real person with a real life. Hes not a payed actor. If you watch the show you would know. Also I would not make it entertaing if I had cameras following me around all day at work just so you know. He flips well. His Houses are sooo beutiful. I love the Show cuz its cool how he can make a old ugly home look like a million dollar home.

Hey everyone, just remember it's TV and it's all illusion. Don't take this stuff seriously. Reality TV is people acting, just like in everyday life as we all do in some form or another. If you had cameras following you around your workplace and/or job, you'd be hamming it up and trying to make it entertaining too. So Bravo to these guys/gals for making a great show...pun intended :-)

    Weazil,

Thank you so much, you said everything I was thinking. As a Real Estate Agent I have to tell you, I love the Show, and the process of seeing someone who knows what Jeff is doing. It maybe becouse I also am OCD. It's great to see someone who is on the rollercoaster.
  • Weazil, I can see your point. He's definitely aware of the camera on the show...I think he does exaggerate for effect at times. Plus, a guy who loves his animals can't be 100 percent bad.

I disagree with Cindy a bit (sorry...). If you watch several episodes, you'll find that most of the harsh stuff Jeff says is tongue-in-cheek. He does lash out, but he also is quick to apologize and see the others' points of view. I find it hilarious that he fires and rehires most of his crew several times. The funniest line I heard so far was when he tells Jennie "you know, Jen, there's a reason I've only fired you a couple of times. You listen. You're proactive." I find Jeff slightly brilliant and entertaining to watch, and YES, even LIKEABLE. Give 'em a chance. He'll grow on you.
  • Guess we'll just have to track the house and see what happens. If you hear anything, Steve, please let us know!
  • Steve
I'm with you Cindy. I think he stands to lose some money in this soft market.
  • Thanks for the comments, everyone! I watched another episode of "Flipping Out" last night, and, I'm sorry, I just find Jeff totally unlikeable! Doesn't the guy have to be a little bit sympathetic for the show to succeed? He's uptight and unfunny and he would drive me crazy to work for. It'll be interesting to see what happens to him now that the market is so soft and he's so heavily leveraged.
  • I agree with you. It was indeed a very interesting show. But of course not without "Tori" the psychic. She's the only reason why I'm watching the show. She’s someone I’d watch every week.
  • Good bust baby, I liked this post.

I finally watched an episode of this show the other day. I find interesting a lot of what he does, albeit it some of it a bit illegal. He does turn dumps into beautiful spaces. But I won't be able to watch very many episodes, as his OCD behavior drives me absolutely bonkers.
