It’s Going Up Fast!

Has anyone else been watching the construction for the upcoming Playa del Oro development in Westchester go up? Well, it’s going up. And it seems to be moving along pretty quickly.

If you’ve ever driven by Lincoln Boulevard and Manchester Avenue over the last several months, you’ve probably seen the bulldozers, mounds of sand, and scaffolding. Well, in case you were wondering, Playa del Oro is going to be a combination of 27,000 square feet of retail as well as 410 high-end apartment homes. (Did you realize they could fit so much in that space?) There will be 12 live/work units in all. And for those who like the convenience of resort-style living nearby, there’ll be a pool and two spas to soak up in.

On the one hand, I can’t wait to see the actual final result of this $120 million dollar project. On the other hand, I dread the added traffic crawl along Lincoln.

Here’s a pic so you can see what it looks like now.

I am looking forward to having some more retail within walking distance. You are right, that's a lot of apartments!! More supply = less demand = lower rental prices. If that means lower housing prices, then it's all good for me!
