HGTV reDesign Star asks for Moon

kb redesign 2125 d HGTV reDesign Star asks for MoonCurbed LA blogged today about HGTV reDesign star Kenneth Brown’s Hollywood loft hitting the MLS….

Remember Kenneth Brown, star of HGTV’s reDesign, was blogging about designing his own loft in The Broadway Hollywood building? Well it seems Kenneth is done, he has a baby on the way, and his loft has hit the MLS. No, it doesn’t look like it’s one of those Broadway Hollywood lofts that was recently PriceChopped. The two-bedroom, two-bath 2,034 square foot loft features a library, walk-in closets, “custom wall finishes, dark hardwood floors, modern draperies, & one of a kind vintage chandeliers.” He must be proud of those chandeliers – we counted at least eight closeups in the slideshow on the listing.

The super-styled loft The Broadway Hollywood building is listed for $1.9 million. It’s described as a corner unit with more than 2,000 square feet, including a library, 26-foot ceilings in the entry (wow, would I hate to have to paint that…), and a chef’s kitchen. It looks fabulous…but it also clocks in at $934 per square foot.

That’s a hefty sum for living in Hollywood. Especially when you consider some of the other units for sale in the building by the developer are being heavily discounted. One of the Penthouses is listed as having “Final Sale Pricing,” at $1.449 million and 2,125 square feet – that’s a somewhat more reasonable (but not much) $682 per square foot. Another 1,796 square foot unit is listed for $1,099 ($612 per square foot). And this one, promising the best west facing exposure, is a 2/2 with just under 2,000 square feet for $1,195.

So I’ll be curious if Brown’s decorating can net such a premium price in this market. Granted, he has style, but he’s taking all that furniture with him when he goes!

Is it just me, or is the library really a nook for a china hutch in the dining room?
