Welcome to Urban Living in the IBC

Welcome to Urban Living in the IBC

I am going to concentrate for a while on the IBC. So you might be wondering, what is the IBC? Here is the answer.

The IBC (Irvine Business Complex) is about 3,000 acres in the southwestern portion of Irvine that was once mostly a commercial and light-industrial area. Now it is evolving into a commercial/entertainment/residential area (or, as I like to call it, a live-work-play-without-the-necessity-of-a-car area).

Since the planning for this area is still evolving, we will have to wait to see the final results, but much has already been done (see the City of Irvine’s IBC map and project list). The City’s goal is to make this a walkable, mixed-use area that adheres to Irvine’s high development standards, while also adjusting to the evolving needs for housing that suits a different demographic. This demographic might include young professional who want an urban life style, older adults who want to downsize, and IBC workers who provide needed services in high-priced Orange County.

Adding a pedestrian bridges over one of its busiest roads (Jamboree Road) and starting a shuttle system that makes frequent stops in the IBC and connects to the Tustin train station and UCI are just of few of Irvine’s plans for this area.

So there is the introduction to the IBC. Next will be the details: Upcoming posts—in the next day or two—will include information on new housing listings, price reductions, recently sold homes, and some open houses—all in the IBC.

So stay tuned, and happy hunting!
