Tools

toolbox ToolsNow I don’t know about your house, but in our house (granted I live with my husband and two sons) whenever the tool box comes out, everyone’s eyes light up.  It’s like each of us realizes that there’s something fun we can do, make, or (try to) fix with the hidden gems inside that delightful box.  Even my youngest, who is far too youngto fix anything, perks up.

At Redfin, the team feels the same way.  Each time they offer up a new tool.  There’s an enthusiasm, an energy with each new tool released that parallels the gusto of a quantum physicist discussing particle and wave duality.  (Whoah, where did that come from?).  After all, they are dedicated to making data-driven decisions and being the “scientists” in the real estate market.  Today, Redfin is reveleaing two new tools which I’ll present to you.

#1 – Open houses!  Ever get tired of trying to sift through the newspapers, Craigslist, etc. trying to figure out where the OpenHouseSignal ToolsOpen Houses are this weekend?  Well, any open house an agent enters into the MLS will now show up on your search.  When you search, if there’s an open house you’ll see this little indicator letting you know there is an open house in the near future.   The only thing I would like more than this tool is to be able to search by open house.  Maybe I can, if so, Redfin big wigs, speak to me here!  If not here’s a tip on a new change (as if you aren’t busy enough these days!).

#2-   Floor Plans.  Ever notice how difficult it is to see the house for it’s true colors from the Realtor’s pictures (or lack thereof).  If you’re really curious, you can now see the floorplan on some homes in the last few picture spots.  This is great for you, but might kill some of the fun I have poking at the pictures in my monthly “ They Say A Picture’s Worth A Thousand Words” blog.

So grab your new tools and go for the gusto – search around a bit.  Let me know if you like or dislike these tools.  Heck, if you have an idea for a new tool post that too!  Trust me, the powers that be do listen to this stuff!  You might just see your idea come to fruition.

Those sound like some great new features! Thanks for letting us know about them.

Who can we email for suggestions for new features? I would like to see improvements on the “saved favorites” such as the ability to map only the saved favorites and maybe different ways to sort them.

Send your ideas to feedback@redfin.com.

Everyone from developers to product managers to the CEO is on that mailing list. We’re pretty good at responding back to you quickly too.
