The San Diego You Don’t Know – But Should

Hello San Diegans, visitors and wannabes.  The heat wave has largely subsided and we are returning to the late summer mediterranean climate we are accustomed to around here (we are SO spoiled!).  If you’re like me, you’ve still got a little summer buzz going.  With the sun in the sky well past quitting time, there is time in the evenings to explore and frolic.  I’m going to share some lesser known places with you.  Please, anyone who does check these out, send me your feedback and let me know if you enjoyed them.

Haunted San Diego

If you are intriqued by mystery, scandal and the dark side, go explore San Diego’s more sinister past with Ghostly Tours.  See haunted houses, ships and graveyards by foot and car.  For bravehearts, there’s even a midnight seance in the graveyard.

Spruce Street Bridge

This little gem is, to locals, a closely protected secret.  I would be hung by my toes in the middle of University Avenue if anyone found out I let its existance be known.  However, there is a local tour company who is including this stop, so I can sleep well telling you it is nestled in the hills between First and Albatross.  With these three streets to navigate, you shouldn’t have too much trouble finding it, though you will need to search on foot and look closely between the trees and shrubs.  The bridge looks and feels pretty rickety, but I assure you it is perfectly safe.  I’ve made the trip across (and back) many times and am still here to tell the tale.

Movies in the Moonlight

Whether you are looking for a fun place for a date, to gather with friends or watch a family flick, Tops is the best movie spot in San Diego.  If you like oldies or not-so-oldies, check their features and show times and go hang out in Hillcrest under the stars.
