When the humble life of San Diego’s East County becomes just a bit dull, I enjoy a few weeks at the old manor house and gather the locals for a nice fox hunt.
Go ahead, ask the question that others are too shy to ask- “How much can I spend?”; “What’s the best way to flaunt my wealth in the face of the common masses?” These are the questions that brought California to the greatness that it is today.

Yes, when those East County winters drop into the forties it’s time for me to fly to my tropical paradise. I always like to bring a few friends, so this winter I want all my Redfin readers to come along.
Unfortunately our quiet corner of California, San Diego’s East County, is not an easy place to throw money around. Unless you want commercial or farm property you’ll be hard pressed to find anything over 2 million dollars. Let’s have a look at some high priced listings.

Another fantasy home but in Rhode Island, not our East County
OK, I’m not going to tell you that this is another of my vacation homes. Even I have some restraint in my tall tales. I might hint that I know someone who knows someone who lives in a house similar to this.
These are among the most expensive listings in their respective cities. If these homes and prices seem a bit much for you, remember that this kind of money will only buy a cottage in the beach areas. Here in the East you will find reasonable prices and reasonable neighbors.
