On the Lighter Side of Real Estate – News You Can Use

design On the Lighter Side of Real Estate News You Can Use

It’s been a little hairy out there lately, with all the talk about foreclosures; looming and otherwise.  ‘Tough times’ pretty well summarizes the market over the past two years.  Many are speculating about a nearing bottom and things may return to some normalcy in the coming months; whatever that means.  We haven’t seen a level market in a long long time, one extreme has simply replaced another.  Perhaps some plain old sanity will set in before too much longer.

On the lighter side of real estate, here is some news you can use.  Whether you’re moving, buying, selling or sitting tight these blogs will help you around the house and provide you with some much needed levity and enjoyment.  After all, there is more to real estate than just buying and selling.  It is also about homes, places where we enjoy our families, escape from the rat race, and celebrate the most precious moments of our lives.  So for today, I wanted to bring you something a little different that will momentarily shift your attention from houses to homes.  I hope you will enjoy these as much as I have.

Saving the World One Room at a Time.  That’s the tag line for apartmenttherapy.com, but don’t be disuaded if you’re a homeowner.  The design tips, resources and home decor ideas can be applied to any space and there are some really cool ideas here.  Their mission is simple:  “A calm, healthy, beautiful home is a necessary foundation for happiness and success in the world.  Creating [a] home doesn’t require large amounts of money or space. It requires inspiration, connection to resources and motivation to do something about it.  The basic elements of good home design can be learned and achieved by all.  Simplicity and luxury are not mutually exclusive.”

Hostess with the Mostest is a guide to fabulous finds and inspiration for contemporary entertaing.  The goal:  ”…to motivate friends and family to take time to celebrate and enjoy each other’s company more often whether it be for a major life event or a casual everyday get-together. We hope to inspire creativity and help reduce the stress associated with hosting an event by serving as a resourceful, convenient and visually appealing “go-to” guide for everyone from the first-time hostess to the seasoned party guru!”

You Grow Girl is an intelligent and enlightened blog that ”…has grown into a thriving online community that speaks to a new kind of gardener, seeking to redefine the modern world relationship to plants. This contemporary, laid-back approach to gardening places equal importance on environmentalism, style, affordability, art, and humour.”  Spring has sprung early in San Diego this year so get out and get your hands dirty!
