Yes, most would probably agree with you. But with so many homes on the market, if there were 20 in your price range, competing for your money, a small incentive like this might make a listing stand out, make you more likely to visit it. It’s a gimmick, sure, but if it helps a home stand out in a crowd, it might be worth it.

These are nifty ideas, but I can’t help but think that most buyers would say “Great, but I’d prefer to have that $XXX taken away from the purchase price instead”.
