Phinney Ridge: Bright and Shiny

It’s hard to dislike a home that’s been redone from top to bottom in glossy hardwood floors, a marble-granite-stainless kitchen, pedestal sinks, and fresh paint.

And I do like the looks of this just-finished six-unit condo complex – on the inside. But on the outside, ick.

Not the building itself (an apartment conversion). That’s OK. But the location….

It’s on the Phinney Ridge/Greenwood border, a few blocks from the commercial corner of 85th and Greenwood. So, convenient, yes, but also busy. I’ve included a picture of the view north on 85th for your enjoyment.

If you don’t want to live in one of the three units clinging to the sidewalk and watch the speeding traffic, you can opt for a back unit and delight in the prosaic alley, parked cars, and trash containers.

On average, the cost-per-square-foot for condos in the Phinney Ridge/Ballard area is $431, so this building’s ratio of $290 (approximate, depends on the floor) makes it look like a deal. If you buy here, I suggest taking any extra dollars and investing in opaque curtains.
