Where Did All The Houses Go?

Chatted with an agent today about how this year Christmas and New Year’s Eves fall on Sunday – the traditional open-house day. Both of us expect the next two weekends to be dead in terms of house hunting. So dead, in fact, she said, some of her colleagues plan to pull listings this week, then reactivate them come January.

So if you’re watching a property that suddenly disappears from the MLS, don’t despair. You’ll probably see it again in a few weeks.

  • Ardell over at Rain City Guide gives the scoop on when/how the DOM field resets to zero.

  • If I was a buyer I'd be watching the Price field more closely than DOM. The holiday-vacation strategy is a good way to relaunch a stale listing at a new asking price.

  • John

No, it does not reset the Days on Market. There is a field called CDOM which counts all the days on market.

  • Eric

Wow - That's fascinating. It will be interesting to see if this resets all the "Days on Market" as well. My assumption is it will. What a nice holiday present for those agents!
