Bellevue: Car-Friendly Condo Life
Snappy ads and sleek kitchens had me very curious to check out this condo complex in north Bellevue. And it was nice to see a well-maintained, ice-free driveway on the icy, snowy day I was there. During the open house, I toured the two open models, both 2-bedroom units, mirror images of each other–mostly differing in floor color (light maple vs. darker walnut).
The complex is a conversion from apartments to condos, and it appeared that care was taken to make a very contemporary and attractive interior. The sales materials mention all the new upgrades to the buildings, including a “6-Step Floor System for Sound Control” (the demo sample of this in the unit looked like six layers of different materials sandwiched together), new windows, new roof, new decks and railings, new plumbing. It’s pet-friendly, too.
Kitchens and baths were new and had all the currently desirable elements: granite counters, stainless appliances, Cherry cabinets, deep soaker tubs, ceramic tile, Silestone counters. The living rooms have wood-burning fireplaces. Access to the units is through exterior walkways and stairways (no elevators or interior hallways as far as I could tell).
The complex is a moderate size, with five separate buildings spread out on the property, which is perched on a hilltop facing south. One thing that struck me about the location is that it’s a good spot to drive from, but not necessarily to walk from. Something to consider if you envision condo life including a stroll to the coffee shop around the corner. The complex is reached via an uphill drive past a couple of commercial buildings. It’s just off Northup Way, which is close to the border between Kirkland and Bellevue, close to 520 and 405.
