Fremont: Beyond Cozy

I was surprised to learn that this set of eight townhouses was built by the same developer who did the well-proportioned quartet next door. They look totally different, to their detriment. Plain, horizontal planes, with shrunken windows – I think there’s much less curb appeal.

The unit I toured was still under construction, but the interior design appears to be heading in the same classy direction as the neighbors’. However, I’d confirm the finishes with the developer before I put down earnest money.

These are smaller homes than those next door, so they feel more cramped than cozy. I also thought they were dim – shrunken windows, remember? – which added to my sense of claustrophobia. As a tradeoff, they are commensurately cheaper.

Two units are active on the MLS, with more coming on the market soon.
