Open House: Bucolic in Mt. Baker

It’s rustic week on the Redfin blog! Yesterday Anna reviewed a vintage farmhouse and another slightly more nouveau but equally appealing model has just been listed in Mt. Baker. There will be an open house under the red roof on Sunday, January 28, 2007 from 1 – 4pm.

Since I have to wait until Sunday to see this place, I will simply offer up some tempting details about the neighborhood, in the hopes of enticing readers to visit the splendors of the south end.

Great Restaurants in the Area: Da Pino delicatessen on Rainier Avenue offers wonderful artisanal cured meats (wild boar sausage to name but one) along with other Italian delicacies, and Mioposto is a new member of the reliable and innovative Chow Foods collective. Almost a dozen more restaurants are just a few blocks south in Columbia City.

Fun Places to Go: Lake Washington is a hop, skip and a jump away. Take classes at the Mt. Baker Rowing and Sailing Center, ride your bike on the car-free boulevard, or walk through the park to go swimming at the beach.

What’s In the Neighborhood: Small and large businesses are within easy walking distance: community center, pre-school, Urban Vines, Vitality Yoga/Pilates, hair salon, drug store, hardware, grocery and video stores.
