Green Lake: Practically Beachfront

This townhouse is so close to the lake that you won’t even be dry by the time you walk home from a dip at the swimming beach (or laps at Evans Pool.)

It’s your standard three-story townhouse, which are all beginning to look alike to me. This one is distinguished by having a strange placement for the front door – behind the gate that separates the garage side from the back yard. (I know you can see front doors in this picture, but the unit I’m talking about is in the set behind these, at the rear of the parcel.)

I like the wood trim and kitchen and bath cabinetry, which had a golden stain and shaker styling. The six-panel doors felt solid. Overall, the place looks decently maintained in the two years since it was built.

This is an end unit in a set of three attached homes, on a street that’s at an angle to the usual Seattle compass grid, so there are windows to the northeast, northwest, and southwest. However, being surrounded by multi-story buildings on all sides doesn’t make for great natural light exposure or views.

The end-unit placement does make getting into the garage is pretty easy; just a little jog instead of a series of right angles. But there’s space for only one car and, given the popularity of the lake and the housing density in the area, good luck finding front-door street parking for an additional car. It’ll only get worse once the old Albertson’s grocery site gets developed into apartments.
