Bainbridge Island: Party All The Time

This 5013 square foot resort-like home exudes a warm and welcoming sense of hospitality, and though I’m not usually big on Westin-sized spreads, this place–with its unconventional atmosphere, seems perfect for the family who loves to party down.

An elegant curved wooden bar extends into the entryway from the kitchen–all you need now is a butler who can be mixing your umbrella drink as you take off your coat.

But don’t drink more than one because the house has an almost maze-like, at times confusing, quality of angled spaces that open onto one another in a somewhat surprising manner–on a bad day, you could get lost in your own home.

Go up the half-flight of stairs to the small landing and you have to decide left? Or right?

If you go left, you end up in a pod of three bedrooms. If you go right, you end up in the master bedroom. You can’t really take a wrong turn because the whole enchilada is ultimately connected through the master bathroom–the tub area of which opens into the master bedroom.

Back on the main level you can make the rounds through the formal living room, dining room and kitchen–a slightly dated yet immaculate open space that serves as a gateway into the family room.

In the family room, enjoy relaxing near the wood burning stove, or take a powder in the powder room off to the left.

Just beyond this room, there is a t.v. lounge room–suitable for converting into a full on home theatre.

But wait! Did I mention the den/office with built in bookshelves that brings you back to the main entry? Or the office off the office?

In case you feel claustrophobic in large spaces, you can always escape down to the game room on the lower level–the primo teen hang out complete with pool table-foosball spaces, and a wet bar that looks suspiciously like a full kitchen to me.

You can also tinker in the oversized 3 car garage, or work off some energy on the sport court, in the batting cage or on the driving tee.

How this place manages to retain a sense of intimacy in each of its many rooms is a mystery to me–it’s got to be the party house of the Meadowmere golf course area–a must see for the recreationally inclined.
