Bainbridge Island: Makeover-Shapeover for Winslow Way Moves Forward

Big time plans to dig up and replace antiquated sewer and water and drainage as well as modernize and improve Winslow Way are moving forward with City Council due to Mayor Karlene Kordonowy’s tie breaking vote to follow through with the $20 Million plus plan.Because replacing the existing underground utilities requires extreme digging and trenching, the entire streetscape will receive a comprehensive facelift at the same time.

Some council members voted against the plan due to concerns over funding plans for the project. Part of the money pie is slated to come from the city’s general fund through bonding, and the other through an increase in utility fees for in-town residents.
