Big, Flat, Education “Hill”: Closed Sales

Actually, while writing up these little neighborhood summaries, I’m learning quite a bit. I mean, I’ve lived on the Eastside for eons now, and people casually toss neighborhood names around like “English Hill,” “Hollywood Hill,” and “Education Hill.” I generally give an of-course-I-know-what-you’re-talking-about nod, and move on to the next subject.

But, it’s time to ‘fess up–in all honesty, I’ve never been able to figure out where these “hills” are! I mean, I know the general areas, and maybe it’s just me, but I’m just not seeing the “hill” part of the whole thing! I have to admit, Hollywood Hill is a little obvious, and even I figured that one out, but the others though–they must be really big, flat hills. Maybe I just need to drive around with a topography map…In any event, I owe thanks to Redfin for finally giving me good reason to actually look up the boundary definitions of these regions. I’m all the better for it, and I’m hoping you got something out of it too!

Education Hill is a 2.5 mile, somewhat older residential area in the north eastern part of Redmond. This area is bounded by NE 116th St. on the north, Avondale Rd. on the east, downtown Redmond on the South and Woodinville-Redmond Rd. on the west. The name comes from the numerous schools in the area, including Redmond High, Redmond Junior High, Horace Mann Elementary, Albert Einstein Elementary, and Norman Rockwell Elementary, all part of the highly acclaimed Lake Washington School District.
