Diary of a Kirkland Stop-a-holic

Downtown Kirkland

Every time I drive down Central Way and turn onto Lake St. S in downtown Kirkland, I always think to myself that this would be a great area to walk around and shop in. The cute little storefronts and constant borage of pedestrians strolling down the streets constantly beckon to me, and I’m reminded of casual strolls along the sidewalks of seaside Del Mar in sunny Southern California.

So, after twelve years of this repetitious thought, I finally stop the car and decide to take an afternoon hiatus and browse the charming little shops. However, it’s neither warm, nor sunny. It’s downright cold, but I’m still anxious to browse one of the interesting shops.

I hesitate at the first store and decide that I’m just not exceptionally interested, so I head to the next one. Pause. Again, no interest. Next. Pause. No interest.  Next. Pause. No interest. Then, pause. No more stores.

Hmmm. They looked enticing from a distance, but up close, nothing buy-worthy. So, I don’t get it–what are all you people strolling the streets of downtown Kirkland doing and what’s in those shopping bags?! Are you carrying November price fixe leftovers from the Third Floor Fish Cafe??

Anyhow, meander on down the street, and tell me what you find on your shopping spree. In the meantime, you’ll want to keep these closed October sales in mind:

About all your excursion is good for is rating the quality of the door material. Perhaps next time you’ll go in and give the merchants a chance to show you something. Do try Central and Park Avenues as well. Lots more windows to peer into. I hear a new shoe store is moving in soon.

Perhaps very true, but I’m big on curb appeal. Thanks for the tips on the other areas–I’ll take a look! :)
