Views of Downtown from West Seattle

A sweeping view of downtown Seattle goes well with morning coffee. It also nicely complements an evening glass of merlot. I wouldn’t mind it at lunch either. Okay, a sweeping view of the city goes well with nearly anything.

If your price range is above $800K or so–and often way above $800K–generally you can get a view of something in West Seattle. If your price range is closer to $2M, you can get a premium view of downtown. Duwamish Head, the northern tip of West Seattle, is flat on top, narrow, and steep on the sides, which means that properties close to the edges will give you a view of the Olympics and Bainbridge from the west side, or of downtown from the east side. There are actually a few houses where you can get both, but I haven’t found any of these for sale at the moment.

And you get the benefit of location, which is apparently high on people’s list (see Allison’s post)–for a short commute, being close to shopping, eating, drinking, the beach, and so on.

1611 Edgewood Ave SW (3 bed, 3.5 bath, 2,580 sf, $1.95M)

Not a bad view

Nice. This one is secluded at the end of a short, dead end street, so it should be nice and quiet. If you can handle the high price per square foot ($756).

1436 Palm Ave SW (2 bed, 2.5 bath, 2,250 sf, $1.295M)

Bubbly anyone?

Also not bad. The price per square foot here is a bit less, but still steep: $576. Both this place and the previous one are a couple of blocks from a park, and a short walk/drive to Alki beach.

1114 Sunset Ave SW (3 bed, 4 bath, 5,690 sf, $4.8M)

I'll take it

This one is a big house on a huge lot (10,000 sf), and it has a killer view. The price per square foot is very high, at $844, but I suppose they priced it that way because of the large lot, which most other houses in the area lack. This is also at the end of a dead end street, so you won’t have to deal with much local traffic. Just you and your sweeping views.

If your driving around West Seattle this weekend consider the west side too if you prefer views of the water instead of the city.
