Coffee Shop of Choice:

Columbia City Bakery is always bustling with people and has great coffee and treats!

Favorite Restaurant in the Area:

We love that we can walk to a neighborhood Italian restaurant, Pizzuto’s. It has good food and the wait staff always know who you are. Of course, Columbia City has many wonderful restaurants, like Tutta Bella’s, La Medusa and Geraldine’s Counter (don’t miss it for breakfast!). Also, there is such a wealth of ethnic cuisine in the Rainier Valley. If you are an adventurous diner, you will never be wanting for interesting new restaurants to try (our favorite is Salima’s).

Favorite Places to Go:

Lake Washington is always beckoning. It is great for swimming on a hot day or just strolling along the shore, which you can do for miles on this part of the lake. Try Kubota Gardens… It is a beautifully manicured Japanese garden complete with ponds, waterfalls, and Japanese-style bridges.

Best Features of the Home:

Our backyard has become a favorite place for us, with our new patio and native plant garden (which is low maintenance and environmentally friendly). The downstairs has original fir floors (the upstairs does too, under the very nice carpet!) that adds charm to the house. We can’t forget how light and airy it feels here… it makes a even rainy day pleasant.

Favorite Room:

The master bedroom has a skylight and a great window that catches a summertime breeze. You can also see a tiny bit of downtown and the Olympic Mountains. Watch the New Year’s fireworks from the window!

Any Remodeling Since Last Sale Price:

We had the exterior painted last year. It looks so great with the new paint. The colors really fit for an old farmhouse. We also painted inside, redid wood floors, put in new carpet, and replaced the tub. We also landscaped and put in a new patio. Whew…

Most Romantic Spot:

The Columbia City Theater is a very romantic place. The room is wonderful with towering brick walls and red velvet curtains.

What’s in the neighborhood?:

There is a multitude of parks in this area. Some are well known, like the majestic Seward Park, but there are others quietly hidden away. Find your own little gem, such as Lakeridge Park, with a flowing stream or Martha Washington Park, with quiet swimming beaches on Lake Washington.

What I Will Miss the Most:

The Neighbors! You really can’t believe what a wonderful block this is until you spend some time getting to know the neighbors. This house is perfectly situated in the middle of the block, surrounded by good people.
