Coffee Shop of Choice:
Mercurys, just five minutes up East Lake Sammamish Parkway and across the street from Whole Foods and Pomegranate Bistro. Free chocolate-covered espresso beans, friendly baristas, and faster than a drive-thru!
Favorite Restaurant in the Area:
Lisa Dupar’s Pomegranate Bistro, where they know us by name. Amazing gourmet food, friendly service and only five minutes from the house.
Pomegranate is right next to Lisa’s catering offices and shares the same kitchen; there’s a huge window in the restaurant where you can see the catering kitchen in process. Pomegranate is one of those wonderful Eastside restaurant secrets, along with Barking Frog and Il Capretto D’Oro (among others), that make you hope Seattle-proper continues to think the Eastside is culture-free and should be avoided altogether – please don’t come across the bridge, it’s getting harder and harder to get a table here!
Favorite Places to Go:
Wine country in Woodinville for wine tasting, Second Story Repertory in Redmond Town Center for intimate live theater, Marymoor Dog Park in Redmond for over 40 acres of off-leash space, US Nails in Redmond for manis & pedis, Whole Foods in Redmond for groceries & gelato, Redmond Saturday Farmer’s Market for flowers and produce, Burke-Gilman Trail for rollerblading and biking, and of course our own private waterfront beach on sunny Lake Sammamish for wakeboarding and happy hour!
Best Features of the Home:
Did we mention our boat buoy on our shared waterfront beach just across the street from the house? Also the stunning year-round views of Lake Sammamish, the vaulted ceilings and walk-out decks in the main bedrooms, the new first floor Trex deck with the new eight-person hot-tub, the huge amount of space and light that the house has, and the enormous back lot where we currently store our boat and truck, but where you could also put a dream garden or even a second structure. It’s a buildable back lot and could easily hold a detached garage, office or small guest house.
Favorite Room:
The master suite, which is huge but still cozy, and could really be its own apartment. In fact, the enormous soaking tub in the master suite could almost be its own apartment. The master suite has amazing views of the lake and its own private deck… but the best views of all are from the third floor, so my favorite *place* in the house is the third floor bedroom’s deck.
Any Remodeling Since Last Sale Price:
Yes, we remodeled the first floor deck and hot tub in 2007. We also upgraded many windows to low-e, added wood blinds to most windows, removed an old wood-burning fireplace in the family room, exposed the hardwood floors, and upgraded some carpet, all since 2007.
Most Romantic Spot:
In the home, definitely the hot tub on a starry night. In the neighborhood, definitely floating in your boat out on Lake Sammamish on a hot summer evening.
What’s in the neighborhood?:
The Lake Sammamish River Trail is just across the street and is a 15 mile gravel trail that runs the length of the lake, connecting at the north end with the Burke-Gilman Trail. Immediately around our house are a lot of large homes with beautiful lake views. Go north five minutes on our street and you’ll hit downtown Redmond; go south five minutes, and east on Inglewood Hill Rd, and you’ll hit downtown Sammamish. Sammamish and Redmond are partnering on a redesign of our street that started this summer and will bury all the cables (read: better lake views!), add sidewalks and safety crosswalks, and calm traffic. Sammamish is also planning a new downtown area that will easily rival Redmond in the next 5-10 years in terms of walking-friendly shopping, entertainment and residential space. Overall there are great infrastructure plans for the neighborhood and nearby communities that will continue to add value to this property.
What I Will Miss the Most:
Parties with our friends on our private beach, and the added benefit of being able to buoy our wakeboarding boat right by the beach all summer long.
For anyone who wants to get on the water in a lovely home with a huge, usable yard for under $1M, this is the home for you!
