Goats do Roam . . . in Seattle Even

goats large Goats do Roam . . . in Seattle Even
Not only does this rather humorous phonetic translation of the famous French wine (Côtes du Rhône-Villages) denote a drinkable South African wine, it also aptly describes downtown Seattle today. Rather than maintaining the brush clogging the hillside between Plymouth Pillars dog park and I-5 mechanically and pumping more pollutants into the air, Seattle is taking a more natural approach—goats.

On my walk downtown this morning, I noticed a heard of goats making short work of the overgrown hillside along I-5, oblivious to the rush hour traffic yards away. The dogs at the park noticed too. One dog’s visit, in fact, had to be cut short, when he tried to jump the fence to reach the greedily grazing goats. (Like he would have known what to do with them if he did manage to make it over the fence.)

What does this have to do with Seattle real estate? I’ve no idea. But the sight inspired me—both the incongruity of a herd in the middle of the urban landscape as well as the idea of a fine red wine with my puttanesca at dinner. I ‘spose I should have added a goat cheese appetizer to complete the theme, but I was too busy at work to sneak off to the market.

Envious of the variety that exists on the border of Capitol Hill, First Hill and downtown? Here are a few listings near everything: the market, a few wine and cheese shops, the dog park—and the occasional goat herd:

It cuts, chops, chomps, slices, and dices the most delicate to the woodiest thorniest brush. It’s the ultimate in green. Its not gas powered. Its electric powered. Its fueled by the foliage.
