Coffee Shop of Choice:

Irwin’s is just around the corner; friendly, local, independent.

Favorite Restaurant in the Area:

There are so many to choose from. Our favorites aren’t the upscale spots just a couple of blocks up on 45th. We often walk to Voulas for a great “greasy spoon” breakfast on the weekends or over to Ivars Salmon House to get take-out, eat on the dock, and watch the boats go by.

Favorite Places to Go:

We love the many kid-friendly parks near the house: Gas Works Park is a short walk along the Gilman Trail and Meridian Playground’s funky play structures — just up the street, are always a treat for our family. Fremont’s great restaurants and shops are close enough to enjoy frequently, as are the conveniences of 45th and the U District.

Best Features of the Home:

So much of this lovely Craftsman has just been updated– by professionals, not a do-it-yourselfer trying out her new table saw. The chef’s kitchen is swell: stainless steel appliances, granite counbtertops, and Italian tile.

Favorite Room:

The large living room is a great place to relax in front of the fireplace with friends. It’s big enough to accommodate family play or more formal entertaining.

Any Remodeling Since Last Sale Price:

The gardens and stone walls have all been built in the past two years. The furnace and central air, roof, Cat5 cabling, electrical, and all-copper plumbing were all installed within the past four years–as was the beautifully-remodeled kitchen and bathrooms.

Most Romantic Spot:

Sitting in the surprisingly large, private backyard on a summer evening.

What’s in the neighborhood?:

Great neighbors, great schools (the award-winning Seattle International schools — Stanford Elementary and Hamilton Middle School), and great access to shops and restaurants.

What I Will Miss the Most:

We’ll miss our gardens and the spacious family room in the basement.
