Coffee Shop of Choice:
Upper Juanita Starbucks just 1 mile away.
Favorite Restaurant in the Area:
Favorite Local Family restaurants include La Corona, Bento Box (Sushi & Teryaki), Asian Wok. Woodinville is just a few minutes away and has a great selection of restaurants.
Favorite Places to Go:
My backyard where it is so private and beautiful and green, even without much watering. Molbaks in Woodinville less than 10 minutes away. We also often walk on the nature trail owned by our community association. Loews Theatre, Barnes and Noble and Top Foods in Woodinville, Yakima Fruit Market, 31 Flavors and Swimming Pool in Bothell are convenient. The Burke Gilman Trail is also just 5 minutes away.
Best Features of the Home:
I think the best features of our home are the diversity of space on multiple levels and the privacy of our space. It is really great to come into the living room and dining room with cathedral ceilings and feel such a sense of openness and peacefulness with all the natural light and level changes. The kitchen overlooks the back yard with fruit trees and the built in nook overlooks the family room. We can entertain in the kitchen or family room and everyone can see and hear each other. The family room also opens onto a great deck and patio space which gets used extensively. The house faces south so it gets sunlight from dawn until dusk. It can be noisy in the family room and still be peaceful in the living room because of the diagonal position in the house and the level changes. Having the bedrooms upstairs with the master on its’ own floor makes sleeping quarters personal and private.
Favorite Room:
I would have to say the master bedroom and bathroom which has vaulted ceilings and a great territorial view. An evergreen eucalyptus tree sways in the wind and is taller than the 4 level house. The master suite is very spacious and is a private retreat to go to. The soaker tub is relaxing after a long day and the whole suite just feels uncrowded.
Any Remodeling Since Last Sale Price:
Yes, we went all out in preparing the home for sale. Just about the only item not upgraded were the windows which were already good quality, although we did upgrade the sliding door to the patio with an energy efficient Pella Door. We tiled, regrouted and sealed every bathroom upgrading from vinyl. We completed a major kitchen upgrade with granite and new stainless steel appliances. The kitchen was already upgraded with a custom table and built in banquette for great family meals and entertainment. We replaced all the vents, doorknobs, hinges, light fixtures and converted nearly everything to brushed satin nickle finish where appropriate. We added a new full pantry cupboard to the kitchen for even more storage. The paint and carpet is all new. It smells and feels like a new home except it has one-third of an acre instead of a 6000 square foot lot like most new homes.
Most Romantic Spot:
The master suite or the deck overlooking the back yard and the fruit trees when they are blooming in the spring. Sitting on the front porch watching the hummingbirds in the perennial garden.
What’s in the neighborhood?:
38 homes built in about 1987, all well maintained with covenants enforced by an active homeowners association. Lots of mature landscaping and well tended large lots. A community owned, and well maintained, nature trail that is private to just the neighborhood. Responsible homeowners who appreciate the value of a well maintained neighborhood.
What I Will Miss the Most:
My perennial garden along the east side of the lot which is so low maintenance that you just need to wait until everything comes up and blooms, year after year – complete with a buried soaker hose so tending it is easy. The fruit trees, blueberry bushes, grape arbor, rose bushes and patio in the back yard that my kids loved to graze upon and the profuse roses I was able to enjoy. My friends in the neighborhood. The close proximity to the church, the store, the school and the freeway while still having privacy at home. The eucalyptus tree that sways in the wind. My High Efficiency Front loading laundry pair which we are leaving only because our new home doesn’t have gas. I will dearly miss these.
All the improvements we made to prepare the sell the house and why we didn’t do it before then.
Looking out nearly every window and seeing green trees. I will honestly miss the weather because we are moving to Eastern Washington which has a completely different climate.
