Seattle’s Got the Bug for Neighborhood Blogs

The Central District News is doing it; why not you? They’ve jumped on board with Instivate, a local digital development company that has created Neighborlogs, a free platform designed for the neighborhood blogger. Right now, the CD News is a beta testing site for the software, which offers mapping, video, and advertising features (and more!).

What’s so special about a neighborhood blog, you ask? For starters, they’re written by the people, for the people. Folks who live mere blocks away from you play contributor. They talk about local issues. They report on the latest construction, the newest businesses, the upcoming community events. They are the proverbial men (and women) on the street, giving you the 411 on your environs, or that of your soon-to-be sweet digs. What’s more, many neighborhood blogs offer publishing rights to anyone with a story, provided it has something to do with the ‘hood. Now, if that doesn’t enrich communities, I don’t know what does

Check out these Seattle placeblogs:

Interested in posting the scoop on your block? Drop Instivate a line, and they’ll hook you up. Care to share any other Seattlecentric blogs with the rest of Redfin?

Please post this blog too. It is the most widely read and prolific neighborhood blog in SE Seattle.

Thanks, Graham. Looks like the Rainier Valley Post can jump on the list, too.

Don’t forget our sister blogs:

PhinneyWood.com for Phinney Ridge and Greenwood.
MagnoliaVoice.com for Magnolia.
And soon-to-be-launched FremontUniverse.com.
