Quadrant Homes Cuts Jobs

Quadrant Homes LogoAnnounced recently, the Bellevue-based single-family home builder, Quadrant Homes, is cutting 45 jobs as a result of the poor real estate market in the Puget Sound area. Employees subject to this change will receive severance packages. According to the Seattle Times, Quadrant Homes builds three new homes a day, which is actually four homes less per day from 2007. New homes are not selling well, and I don’t think this is the last announcement of its kind for a while.

From the Quadrant Homes release

“Quadrant Homes announced it will reduce its workforce in response to the slowdown of new home sales in the greater Puget Sound area.

‘While Quadrant remains committed to providing more house to more homebuyers for less money, we need to adjust to the continued challenges in the regional housing market and balance the size of our operation with current demand for new homes,’ said Peter Orser, president of Quadrant Homes.

The company will lay off 45 associates, bringing the total regional workforce to approximately 180. The layoffs will impact associates from the company’s corporate headquarters in Bellevue, Washington as well as those at field locations throughout the six western Washington counties in which Quadrant operates. The changes are effective immediately and will not effect Quadrant’s current commitment to its customers.

Quadrant will provide dismissed associates with severance benefits, consistent with company policies.

Quadrant Homes, a subsidiary of Weyerhaeuser Real Estate Company, is Washington state’s largest single-family homebuilder. For more information, visit Quadrant’s Web site at www.quadranthomes.com
