San Francisco: Lap of Luxury…In the Forest

This is a stunning home. Seriously. If this is your price range, you should you take a look: beautiful kitchen, fully remodeled both for aesthetic and for actual use (as in, the counters are granite and appliances brand new, top of the line–there’s even a wine-cooler!- , but the layout is warm and convivial as opposed to stark and fresh from the factory-esque).

The open floor plan on the bottom floor creates a wrap around space, adjoining the kitchen, formal dining room and living room, the latter enhanced by a word burning fireplace and soaring cathedral ceiling. A wood staircase complete with old fashioned banister begging for some lucky kid to test out the speed factor of its shine leads to the upstairs. There, 2 generous bedrooms and a very swanky master bed await. And frankly, I could have happily lived in either of the recently remodeled baths (one being downstairs and one being upstairs), especially the one with the Jacuzzi tub. Up another floor to the finished attic is a space that for once actually looks like an artist studio: a light filled room with an old fashioned feeling peaked roof, looking out at the trees of Forest Hill.

Outside is the only place you might find a way to negotiate the price of this beauty downward. Yes, you have a walk out deck overlooking a generous yard, recently landscaped, and a large garage as well as a basement. But the property sits on the corner of Woodside Drive and Hernandez Ave., with the front door squarely facing Woodside. This is a very busy street, a major artery between the Sunset, West Portal, Twin Peaks, Woodside and Forest Hill, among other areas. A family would have to be vigilant about young children and pets.
