Sweet Digs: 1/14th of Santa Cruz Beach House for $259,000

This week’s edition of Mansions and Shacks features a Tolkien-esque Piedmont manor and a totally swinging beach pad minutes from UC Santa Cruz, both at undisclosed locations. The Piedmont home has a fantastic storybook quality to it with a backyard fountain straight out of the Frodo-Galadriel scene in “The Fellowship of the Ring”: $6,195,000 list price, 5 bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms, 7,673 square feet on half an acre of land.

Our least expensive property this week isn’t really a shack because the $259,000 list price is only for a 1/14th share of a Santa Cruz beach house on La Selva Beach. I nearly clicked the “make an offer” button before I read the listing more carefully. The property is part weather-beaten cabin, part “Weekend at Bernie’s” 80′s bachelor pad.
