Berkeley: Confectioner’s Delight In Candy Store Street
Here’s one that can’t fail to make an impression.
The house, at 2156 Ward Street near downtown Berkeley, is like a confected wedding cake in a street full of similarly restored elaborate Victorians, a delightful discovery that I wouldn’t have made had it not been for a little digging that revealed that the house has recently come up for grabs with an asking price of $1,450,000.
Described as an “important historical mansion” the interiors certainly look elegantly in keeping with the period of the house and at an estimated 4,481 sq ft, with 4-6+ bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, there’s a lot or room to play with.

Down the road is another Painted Lady with a sign in its front window reading ” Don’t buy 2122 Ward” (below). Another intriguing discovery – and completely mystifying. I would love to know what that’s all about.
